Before starting the installation of the SPC stone plastic lock flooring, there are several important prerequisites that need to be met.
Ground Surface Preparation:
Ensure the surface is smooth, with a slope of less than 3mm over a distance of 1 meter. The floor must be completely dry, solid, level, and free from debris. It can be installed directly over existing cement floors, ceramic tiles, or other flat surfaces like wooden floors, linoleum, or PVC tiles. However, avoid installing it on soft surfaces like carpets.
Required Tools:
To install the SPC stone plastic lock flooring, you’ll need a tape measure, electric saw or jigsaw, hammer, tapping block, and silicone sealant.
Installation Process:
Begin by laying the first row of planks along the wall, ensuring there’s a 10mm gap between the wall and the edge of the board. Angle the next plank slightly and press it into place, aligning it with the groove of the previous plank. Repeat this for the first row. Cut the final piece of the first row to fit snugly, maintaining the 10mm gap. Start the second row with leftover pieces from the first row, ensuring they’re longer than 300mm.
For subsequent rows, angle the new plank and align its tongue with the groove of the previous row. Gently press the board down onto the surface. Next, angle the short side of the plank and fold it into place, ensuring it locks securely with the adjacent board. To secure the connection, lift both the newly installed board and the one beneath it slightly—about 30mm—and press them together. As you continue installing, adjust the distance between the floor and the wall to maintain a consistent 10mm gap.
SPC stone plastic lock flooring should always be installed in a staggered pattern to ensure stability and prevent warping.
Important Installation Tips:
1. Leave approximately 10mm of expansion space around walls, pipes, and door frames. In rooms larger than 100 square meters, additional expansion gaps should be created, with at least 13mm between the door bottom and the floor.
2. If the subfloor is prone to moisture, lay a moisture barrier underneath.
3. Once the flooring arrives, store it in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight for at least 48 hours before installation.
4. Place heavy items like bundles of planks on recently installed sections to stabilize them.
5. Consider the total height of the flooring system, which includes a 1mm moisture-proof underlay and a 10.5mm finished floor height, totaling 11.5mm. Clients should plan for an appropriate clearance of 12mm when installing alongside higher surfaces like door thresholds, baseboards, and radiator covers.
