Home intelligence promotes hardware industry development

Home intelligence promotes hardware industry development Last year, China's hardware industry witnessed a remarkable surge in its total import and export volume, reaching 74.923 billion U.S. dollars, representing a year-on-year growth of 30.1%. As people place greater emphasis on their personal living environments, the demand for comfort in the home is increasing rapidly. The modern lifestyle, which embraces convenience and ease, demands hardware solutions that are not only functional but also intelligent. This trend is particularly noticeable in the cabinet industry, where hardware components account for up to 35% of overall usage. For instance, the integration of electronic smart pumps in high-end foreign cabinets has led to the adoption of the "handle-free" minimalist design. Meanwhile, advancements in new types of dampers and slide rails have made it possible for cabinet drawers to support heavier loads without rebounding or leaking, while simultaneously extending the lifespan of these components. In the realm of integrated bathrooms, innovations such as automatic faucets with temperature control, card locks, automatic doors, and sensor switches are gradually becoming part of everyday life. These developments are paving the way for homes to embrace smarter, more efficient living. Despite the critical role hardware plays in home design, the domestic high-end home hardware market remains largely dominated by international brands. Renowned furniture and cabinet manufacturers often tout imported hardware from European companies like Blum and Hettich as a key selling point, highlighting the prestige associated with German or Italian-made hardware. However, as China’s cabinet, bathroom, and other home industries continue to grow, domestic companies are increasingly focusing on tapping into the vast potential of the local market. Many are shifting their strategies toward transitioning from exports to domestic sales. Hardware companies are acutely aware of this shift. One manufacturer, known for producing OEM products, stated, "Our future goal is to fully penetrate the domestic high-end market. We’ve already started the groundwork." The company acknowledges that while domestic firms excel in product quality due to years of exporting overseas or catering to foreign investments, the focus must now shift. "It’s crucial to move away from merely manufacturing and branding lightly," they emphasized. "Instead, we need to enhance our brand management capabilities and strategic awareness to ensure we claim our rightful place in the market."
