Pay attention to prevent the source of fire from leaving no sequelae

Since the release of the State Council's "Opinions," Anhui Province has placed great emphasis on establishing a special leading group and has organized intensive efforts to draft the province's own opinions. Five seminars and two written requests were submitted to the Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Provincial Department of Finance. Input from provincial departments and municipal governments ensured the smooth introduction of the provincial opinions. The full text of Anhui's "Opinions" is divided into four main sections, with 16 parts in total. The first part outlines the guiding principles, basic principles, and overall goals for strengthening and improving fire protection. The second, third, and fourth parts focus on fire prevention, infrastructure development, and job security, with particular attention given to rural and community fire safety. It also details the construction of the "four capabilities" and the revision of fire safety plans for key units. The document includes 11 specific tasks such as compulsory recruitment of firefighters, equipment upgrades, and fire safety education. Additionally, it proposes safeguard measures for implementing fire safety responsibilities, advancing social fire management innovation, improving funding mechanisms, and enforcing strict fire safety accountability.

On the morning of May 15, Governor Li Bin chaired the 98th provincial government executive meeting and approved the "Opinions of the Anhui Provincial People's Government on Further Strengthening and Improving Fire Control Work." Deputy Governors Ni Faike and Hua Jianhui attended the meeting, along with representatives from 14 provincial agencies, including the Public Security Department, the Development and Reform Commission, and the Department of Education.

After listening to the report from the Provincial Public Security Department, Governor Li emphasized that fire protection is crucial for the safety of people's lives and property, as well as for social stability and harmony. He described it as an essential task for ensuring safe development and meeting the people's needs. It is also a vital component of the government's role in social management.

Looking ahead, Governor Li outlined three key areas of focus for future fire protection work. First, he called for greater attention to the source of fire prevention. While continuing to invest in firefighting equipment, more effort should be directed toward developing fire prevention plans and improving municipal fire facilities. Second, he emphasized the importance of equipment quality. Localities should tailor their fire equipment procurement based on local conditions, ensuring scientific and reasonable targets that enhance the effectiveness of firefighting and rescue operations. He also encouraged the adoption of scientific and technological advancements from research institutions and fire companies to boost combat efficiency. Third, he stressed the need for regular fire-fighting and rescue emergency drills. A comprehensive emergency command platform and social coordination mechanism should be established, and drills should be conducted regularly to improve response capabilities. A large-scale provincial-level fire drill will be held before and after "5.12" next year to test and enhance the province's readiness.
