Ben Lang: As long as you use your heart, everyone can innovate

Abstract When it comes to innovation, no one can deny its significance. Ben Lang’s 2013 guiding principles strongly emphasize the value of innovation and hard work. But do we truly implement innovation in our daily tasks, or is it just a buzzword? Where does creative inspiration come from, and what are the practical methods for fostering innovation? These questions deserve constant reflection—thought about every month, and even more importantly, every day. The real challenge lies not just in thinking, but in turning those thoughts into actions that lead to meaningful results.

In real life, there are two common misunderstandings that are quite widespread: First, some people believe that innovation is only for experts, professors, or R&D professionals—it's something big, complex, and not relevant to ordinary employees. The second belief is that the way we do things every day has been refined through repetition and must be correct. There's nothing to change. However, these two misconceptions are actually major obstacles to innovation and need to be challenged.

Recently, I came across a construction site where workers were using an impact drill to make holes in walls and ceilings. To my surprise, there was no dust in the air or on the floor. Based on my experience with such tools, I expected some mess. After observing closely, I noticed that the worker had placed a round "cup cover" over the drill bit. When asked, he called it a "dust bucket." This simple device collected all the debris and dust during drilling, solving a problem that many thought was unavoidable. This small tool turned a messy process into a clean one. Isn't this a form of innovation? It shows that innovation doesn’t always mean grand inventions—it can be a small, practical solution born from daily experience.

Innovation is at the heart of our company's growth and development. We refer to it as the soul of Ben Lang. Every year, through programs like the Technology Innovation Award, Diamond Ideas, and Rationalization Suggestions, we encourage all employees to contribute their ideas and participate in innovation efforts. These initiatives have led to numerous valuable innovations that have driven our company forward. However, with increasing market competition, staying ahead requires continuous innovation. Our parent company, in all areas and processes, still has many opportunities for improvement—whether in management, systems, efficiency, quality, cost, environment, or safety. There are countless "dust buckets" waiting to be discovered and solved. With careful observation, deep thinking, bold experimentation, and continuous improvement, everyone can become an innovator. I believe that when we embrace this mindset, we will not only enhance our own skills but also strengthen the company's long-term competitiveness. Innovation is within everyone's reach.
