Analysis of the use of imidacloprid

Imidacloprid is a systemic insecticide based on nitromethylene, known for its high efficiency, broad-spectrum activity, and low residue. It acts as an agonist of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in pests, disrupting the normal function of their nervous systems. This leads to paralysis and eventual death. The insecticide has a fast-acting effect, with visible results within 24 hours of application, and its residual activity can last up to 25 days. The effectiveness of imidacloprid increases with higher temperatures, making it particularly effective in warm conditions. It is primarily used for controlling sucking pests such as aphids, thrips, whiteflies, and mites. **Application of Imidacloprid:** Imidacloprid should be applied according to specific crop and pest requirements. Here are some common uses: 1. For cruciferous vegetables, apply 40–60 g per acre of 45% emulsifiable concentrate (EC). 2. To control tobacco aphids, use 30–50 g per acre of 5% EC. It is best to apply the insecticide early during infestation, repeating the treatment every 7–10 days for 2–3 times. 3. For pests like Spirea japonica, apple mites, peach aphids, pear hibiscus, leaf roller moths, whiteflies, and leaf larvae, spray with 10% EC diluted at 4,000–6,000 times or 5% EC at 2,000–3,000 times. For prevention, products like Shennong 2.1% cockroach gel bait can also be used. 4. It is suitable for a wide range of crops, including rice, wheat, corn, cotton, potatoes, vegetables, beets, and fruit trees. Due to its strong systemic properties, it is ideal for seed treatment and granulation. The recommended dosage is usually 3–10 grams of active ingredient per acre, either mixed with water or applied directly to seeds. The safety interval is 20 days. **Seed Treatment Methods for Economic Crops:** 1. **Large Crops:** - Peanuts: Mix 100–150 ml of 30–40 kg of seeds with 40 ml of water. - Corn: Coat 10–16 kg of seeds with 100–150 ml of solution. - Wheat: Treat 30–40 kg of seeds with 300–400 ml of solution. - Soybeans: Use 20–30 ml of solution for 8–12 kg of seeds. - Cotton: Apply 50 ml of solution to 3 kg of seeds. - Other legumes (peas, cowpeas, etc.): Use 20–50 ml of solution for one acre of seeds. - Rice: Soak seeds in 10 ml of solution per mu, and ensure proper moisture control after germination. 2. **Small-grain crops (e.g., rapeseed, sesame):** Coat 2–3 kg of seeds with 10–20 ml of solution in 40 ml of water. 3. **Tuber crops (potatoes, ginger, garlic, yam):** Mix 3–4 kg of seeds with 40 ml of solution in 3–4 kg of water. 4. **Transplanted crops (e.g., sweet potato, tobacco, celery, tomatoes, peppers):** - With nutrient soil: Mix 40 ml of solution with 30 kg of crushed soil. - Without nutrient soil: Soak roots in 40 ml of solution for 2–4 hours before transplanting. Then mix the remaining solution with crushed soil to form a thin slurry and plant the roots.
