Water conservation of rich bamboo farming methods

(1) Before placing the cuttings into the bottle, trim the base of the bamboo stem with a sharp knife, making a slanted cut. This helps the plant absorb water and nutrients more efficiently. Change the water every 3 to 4 days, and avoid moving or rotating the cutting for at least 10 days. Within about 15 days, you should see silvery white roots beginning to form.

(2) Once the roots have developed, it's best not to change the water frequently. Only add water when the level drops due to evaporation. Frequent water changes can cause the leaves to turn yellow and wilt.

(3) After the roots have established, you can apply a small amount of diluted compound fertilizer to encourage thicker stems and greener, healthier leaves. If no fertilizer is used for too long, the plant may become weak, with thin stems and yellowing leaves, which can reduce its ornamental value. However, be careful not to over-fertilize, as this can burn the roots or damage the plant. Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during spring and autumn for best results.

To prevent overgrowth of rich bamboo, avoid using fertilizer altogether. Instead, consider adding a few drops of brandy to the water every three weeks. This helps control algae growth and keeps the leaves vibrant and green. You can also add a small amount of nutrient solution to maintain the plant’s health and appearance.

(4) Avoid placing your rich bamboo near electronic devices such as TVs, air conditioners, or fans, as the constant airflow can dry out the leaves and cause the tips and edges to brown. Keep it in a stable, well-lit area with good ventilation but away from direct drafts.
