1. Repair of the Drive Shaft and Bushing After Wear

When the gear pump's drive shaft and bushing experience wear, the clearance between them increases, which can affect the oil delivery capacity of the pump. To restore proper fit, either the drive shaft or the bushing can be repaired. If the drive shaft is slightly worn, you can remove the old bushing and replace it with a standard-sized one to bring the clearance back within acceptable limits. However, if both components are severely worn and the clearance is significantly out of specification, the bushing should be replaced. The drive shaft can then be chrome-plated or vibratory welded to increase its diameter, followed by grinding to the correct size, ensuring proper alignment and fit.

2. Repair of Cracks in the Pump Housing

To fix cracks in the pump housing, a 508 nickel-copper welding rod can be used for casting. The weld must be tight without any air holes, and the flatness error of the mating surface with the pump cover should not exceed 0.05 mm. This ensures that the housing remains structurally sound and maintains proper sealing when reassembled.

3. Repair of Wear on the Drive Shaft Bushing Hole and Driven Shaft Hole

If the drive shaft bushing hole becomes worn, the wear marks can be removed by reaming, and the bushing can then be enlarged to match the new size. Similarly, for the driven shaft hole, reaming is used to eliminate wear marks, after which the driven shaft is machined to fit the newly reamed hole precisely.

4. Repair of the Inner Cavity of the Pump Casing

When the inner cavity of the pump casing wears, it is typically repaired using an insert method. This involves enlarging the cavity and then casting a cast iron or steel sleeve inside. Once the sleeve is in place, the inner cavity can be honed, and the valve seat can be restored. For pressure-limiting valves, there are two types: spherical and plunger. If the spherical seat is worn, a steel ball can be placed on the seat and gently tapped with a metal rod until the ball fits tightly against the seat. If the seat is severely damaged, it can first be reamed to remove the wear, and then the same process can be repeated. For a plunger-type seat, a small amount of valve sand can be used for grinding until the seal becomes tight.

5. Repair of the Pump Cover

For the working surface of the pump cover, if the wear is minimal, manual grinding can be used. A small amount of valve sand is placed on a flat surface or thick glass plate, and the pump cover is then ground on it until the wear marks are removed and the surface is smooth. If the wear exceeds 0.1 mm, the cover should be turned and ground to restore the flatness. This ensures that the pump cover maintains proper contact with other components during operation.
