China's aerodynamic research ranks first in the world

The center has now fully implemented wind tunnel tests, numerical calculations and model flights.

Following the icing wind tunnel, a new type of wind tunnel was built at the center: a new type of wind tunnel provides advanced ground test methods for China’s manned spaceflight and deep space exploration; the first large-scale aeroacoustic wind tunnel is an aircraft. The test and evaluation of aerodynamic noise from ground vehicles provides important technical support; a hypersonic low density wind tunnel lays a solid foundation for the development of rare gas dynamics and other disciplines in China.

Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan," the center has completed more than 1,500 aerodynamic test tasks for a series of key projects such as manned space flight and the moon exploration project, and has obtained a batch of innovative research results with world-leading levels, providing development for new types of aerospace vehicles. Reliable pneumatic data has played an irreplaceable role in the design and evaluation of aerodynamic and aeroacoustic performance of domestic products such as large aircrafts, wind turbines, and EMUs.
