Because of the conditions, Liu’s equipment was quite rudimentary. He simply connected the broken bulb to a disc that could reflect light, and then matched it with a resistor to get a homemade “disc light”.

So, what is the effect of this "disc light"? Uncle Liu has installed 40 such disc lights in the corridor of his family's home. The results show that lighting is 12 hours a day, and only consumes one kilowatt hour. Each lamp consumes only 0.6 kWh per day, which is quite energy-saving.

For the old family hospital where Mr. Liu is located, it is very difficult and time-consuming to update the circuit to replace the light bulb. This kind of disc light is simple to make and low in cost, and the effect is not only better than the old incandescent lamp, but also inferior to energy saving.
