Daimler: Unmanned heavy trucks approved on the road in Nevada, USA

Daimler said the company has introduced this new autonomous driving technology to the sparsely populated Nevada state in the southwestern United States, as European governments have been slow to regulate the approval of self-driving trucks. Nevada is also one of the first states in the United States to approve autonomous driving cars.

However, Daimler said that the company needs more states to accept this technology in order to complete the "inter-east coast" freight, showing the development potential of this technology. Currently, such trucks will only be allowed to drive automatically in Nevada. Once crossing the state, the driver must take the steering wheel back.

Wolfgang Bernhard, chief executive of the Daimler bus and truck division, said that autonomous driving technology would greatly reduce accidents caused by driver misuse. About 90% of truck accidents are caused by driver misuse, which is often caused by fatigue driving and distraction.

The new truck will still have a driver who will take over the operation of the vehicle when the autonomous driving system considers the situation to be more complex than its own processing capacity. These complexities may include when the vehicle is driving out and entering the dispatch center, and when the vehicle is driving in a busy urban area.

However, this autonomous driving system is expected to handle vehicles on long-haul roads, and long-distance travel is currently the main cause of driver fatigue. The truck has been tested on the Nevada highway for tens of thousands of hours and can be used immediately for full commercial use, but Daimler will continue to monitor the operation of the car.

Daimler’s move in Nevada shows the company’s confidence in its autonomous driving technology. In the field of autonomous driving, the company is facing competition from newcomers including Google, which focuses on auto-driving technology.

R410A is an HFC blend designed for new R22 applications. It operates at higher pressures than many other refrigerants, and so cannot be used to retrofit R22 systems. Systems designed for R410A can take advantage of its ability to use smaller components, making it a key refrigerant for domestic and light air conditioning equipment. R410A's low glide also makes it suitable for some centrifugal compressors, and it can operate in low temperature applications.
