To address this, you can spray the leaves with a 1% to 2% urea solution or a 2% to 4% potassium phosphate solution. This should be done once every 5 to 7 days, and up to 2 to 3 times if needed. This method helps improve disease resistance and boosts overall productivity.
Maintaining appropriate soil moisture is also vital. While peanuts require less water in the late growth stage compared to the mid-season, it's still necessary to irrigate during dry periods. However, excessive watering can harm the underground pods, causing them to rot. Therefore, it's important to maintain a balance and avoid overwatering.
Controlling pests and diseases is another critical aspect. Common issues include leaf spot, rust, and aphids. For leaf spot, spraying 70% mancozeb or 75% chlorothalonil at a dilution of 500 times can be effective. To prevent rust, you can use 30% rust wettable powder at a rate of 50 grams per 50 kg of water. For aphid control, spraying 3% acetamiprid emulsifiable concentrate diluted 1000 times is recommended.
Finally, harvesting at the right time is essential to maximize pod yield and quality. Timely harvesting ensures that most pods are mature, preventing issues like underdeveloped or rotten pods. Harvesting should be done promptly once the majority of the pods are ready.
