DSSCs offer superior performance under low-light conditions compared to traditional solar cells. As a type of chemical battery, they also provide an attractive visual appeal, making them suitable for a variety of applications such as 3C devices. In China, major DSSC manufacturers include Formosa, Yongguang, Changxing, Shuo, Fu Ying, and others. These cells can be used in environmental sensors, low-light energy harvesting (EHM), commercial power panel chargers (CellBox), and even electronic tags (E-Tag).

In addition to its focus on micro-process design and high-voltage modules, MKE also conducts research into battery structure, packaging, and thin-line design. This comprehensive approach ensures that the company can develop not only efficient but also durable and aesthetically pleasing DSSC products.

MKE has gained considerable recognition in the global DSSC industry. Its efforts have led to collaborations with domestic listed companies, Central University, and ITRI. These partnerships have also attracted international interest, with notable entities like Dachang Dyesol, G24i, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences showing strong support.

Furthermore, MKE received financial support from the Taipei Municipal Government's Industrial Development Bureau in 2012.
