Due to the tight supply of graphite and the rising price, driven by the interests, there are many new graphite production lines in the main flake graphite production area. According to statistics, the natural graphite output in 2005 will reach 1.4 million tons, the highest level in history. Among them, the output of crystalline graphite in 2005 reached about 400,000 tons, an increase of more than 30,000 tons from 2004.
In 2005, the output of graphite in Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and Hebei was about 45,000 tons, and the output in Shandong was 12-14 million tons. The total output was basically the same as last year, but the mining was more difficult. At present, the problem of high quality mineral resources has been reduced in Heilongjiang, Jixi and Mashan. The total output decreased. In 2005, Heilongjiang's output reached 180,000 tons. Among them, Luobei became one of the new major production areas in Heilongjiang. At present, there are 18 graphite production lines under construction in the county, with a total design capacity of over 150,000 tons. The output of Luobei will exceed 100,000 tons, and in 2007 it will reach more than 150,000 tons.
The growing demand for graphite market is closely related to the improvement of the domestic and international economic situation and the rapid development of downstream industries. The main users of graphite are the steel and refractory industries. It is understood that the output of refractories exceeded 20 million tons in 2005, and the magnesia carbon bricks with magnesia and crystalline graphite as the main raw materials will reach 1.2 million tons in 2005. Based on an average of 13.5%, only magnesia carbon bricks require 162,000 tons of crystalline graphite per year. In addition to the continuous casting and slag graphite used in smelting, the demand for crystalline graphite in China's steel and refractory industry this year totaled about 190,000 tons. In addition, from the consumption structure, refractory materials accounted for 26%, casting accounted for 15%, lubricants accounted for 14%, brake linings accounted for 13%, pencils accounted for 7%, other carbon brushes, batteries, expanded graphite accounted for 25%; The total annual demand for crystalline graphite in industries such as tantalum, electric carbon, battery, and graphite emulsion is more than 50,000 tons. The amount of crystalline graphite in the above-mentioned fields has increased significantly compared with last year.
